"It was after the picnic that the town began to notice things and got mad."
After they noticed Janie and Tea Cake took intrest in one another people start to become jealous and angry. They became jealous because thier were other people in town who liked both of them and became mad because they thought tea cake only wanted her money. I think they should motivate them so they can love eachother more instead of trying to tear them apart.
"Cause Tea Cake aint no Jody Starks, and if he tried tuh be, it would be uh complete flommuck"
This means someone was comparing Tea Cake to Joe and it was two totally different side. I personally think they can not be compared because Jody and Tea Cake treated Janie two different ways and they had two different personality's.
